Changed My Perspective on Winter Gloom!

In addition to being beautiful photographs, each page is a scene showing vibrant interactions between children and the intriguing outdoor activities they are engaged in. Since I'm still learning how to play with my kids, and sometimes need help figuring out what to do with them when we go outside, I appreciated the play ideas captured in the photographs as much as the ideas about how to dress.

~ Amazon Review (Cold Weather Gear)
I love this book! I have never seen a book like it before, with photographs that make me feel the scenes, and text prompts to jumpstart conversations about each page. I use the book at home with my littles for interactive storytime cuddles as well as a reference to help them capture the concept that they need to adjust their clothes based on the activities and weather for each outdoor session. We love nature, we love the outdoors, and we love this book!

It’s important for young children to play outside all year long, in all different weather conditions. To be comfortable, they need to wear appropriate clothing!

Are you wondering:
What will it look like to read these books with my child?

The videos below show a 2.5-year-old reading through the book with his daddy and then answering the questions at the end of the book.
Umm, could he be any cuter?
It’s easier to convince kids to wear these clothes when they see other kids in the same gear!

"I have this book, and it has been a great resource for teaching my kids - and myself! - how to dress for comfort in the cold. There are two text options on each page, so I can use the big text for a quick flip through with my youngest or as an early reading practice with my oldest, and I can use the smaller text as conversation cues to find out what my little ones are thinking as they look at the photographs." ~ Amazon Review (Cold Weather Gear)
Every time my 3-year-old sees this book he wants to read it. He loves answering the questions and talking about details in the pictures. I can't wait to read the next book in the series! ~ Amazon Review (Cold Weather Gear)

Christy Barrett
Photographer

Christy discovered her love of photography while co-teaching in a Montessori-based preschool. The parents always had many questions about what, and how much their children were learning. She realized that the only way to explain the true experience of learning was to capture it, in raw form, through her lens! Christy's professional photography career expanded to years of photographing engagements, weddings, births, portraits, sporting events, and advertising.
